There are plenty of other attractions in the
north of Lanzarote.

Here are some of the other places you could
visit as part of a day out in north Lanzarote.

Playa de la Canteria 1

A remote beautiful beach west of the little village of Orzola near the northernmost tip of Lanzarote. Popular with windsurfers but the strong sea currents make it dangerous for swimming.

Orzola 2

A little fishing village with seafood restaurants overlooking the harbour. Boats depart from here to the island of La Graciosa several times a day.

Mirador del Rio 3

Situated 1500 feet above sea level, Mirador del Rio is the best viewpoint on Lanzarote, Breathtaking views of the Islands of La Graciosa, Montana Clara and Alegranza.

La Graciosa Island 4

La Graciosa Island is just over a mile from the northern tip of Lanzarote and can be reached by the ferry from Orzola. With sandy beaches and two small villages the best way to explore is by bicycle or by foot. The beaches are great for scuba diving but strong currents make swimming dangerous. La Graciosa is a marine reserve with unique marine life and many seabirds.

Village of Haria 5

Known for its many palm trees and whitewashed houses. In the square Plaza Leon y Castillo stands the Church of Nuestra de la Encarnacion containing a sculpture of the Virgin by Lujan Perez. On Saturdays a craft market is held where traditional crafts including dolls in local costume and pottery are sold.

Jameos del Agua 7

Cesar Manrique transformed this volcanic cavity with a collapsed roof into an underground water garden. The gardens contain a restaurant, dance floor and a lake. Paths wander amongst rocks and plants to a pool, the habitat of tiny, blind white crabs. Further on you cab find terraces with views of the caves.

Northern Lanzarote

Greens Cave 6

The Green's Cave is part of a volcanic tube that was formed by the successive eruptions of the Corona Volcano about 4,000 years ago. Visitors
can take an hour long, one mile guided tour of the different levels and narrow passages.

Teguise Market 8

Every Sunday Teguise is transformed from a quiet town into a hub of activity when a large market takes place filling the square and surrounding streets. All manner of goods are sold. Traditional song and dance are performed in the main square while other folklore events sometimes can be seen in the town.

Santa Barbara Castle 9

Santa Barbara Castle was built in the 16th Century as a watchtower and is located above Teguise. Later it was strengthened and reinforced by architect Leonardo Torriani. In the 1990s, the castle was converted into the Museo del Emigrante Canario - a collection of information and exhibits chronicling Canarian emigration to the Americas
